How to Create a profitable website or a blog

The Internet is a massive place, but if you’re looking for something specific, there’s a good chance that somewhere out there someone has created a website. And it’s not all that hard to do; this post will teach you how to create your own website! All you need is an idea, some creativity, and HTML skills.

Step One:

Decide on What Type of Website You Want to Build There are three basic types of websites: personal websites, business websites, and hobbyist websites. The first two types will be discussed in this post, but the last one will be covered in the next post. Personal Websites. Personal websites are personal information sites for your own information and sharing.

Many people use them as guest books to list their contact information and such. A personal website is also a great way to advertise your blog or website. Business Websites. Business websites are for businesses or other organizations that have a need to share information, but not necessarily meet the requirements of a full-fledged website.

For example, if an Etsy shop owner wanted to share information about their products or business, they could make a website with links to their Etsy store and pictures of products and such. Or a freelance web designer might want to create a portfolio of clients’ websites they’ve designed. Hobbyist Websites.

These are for people who just like to create. If you enjoy designing websites but have no need to do so professionally, you might want to make a website. The only reason this genre of the website is listed last is that, generally, these websites are the least likely to be used by people other than the creators.

Step Two:

Decide on Purpose and Content The next step is to decide what your site will be about and what information it will contain. For example, this site will be about blogging. Our purpose is to share information and ideas, so we’ll make a personal website that has information about our blog and blog-related things. For our website, we’re going to stick with a medium-size template. We don’t need much room for content; in fact, we’ve got more than enough room for everything we need.

We’re going to need a place for contact information, links to our blog and social media, pictures of us (since we’re blogging about ourselves), our About Us page, links to other sites we find useful and interesting such as the website where you found this tutorial, any press mentions we’ve gotten and ways people can get in touch with us. We’ll do all of this while using only the bottom part of the template.

Step Three:

Choose a Domain Name The next step is choosing a domain name.
There are a number of things to consider when choosing a domain name, so make sure you pick something unique, memorable, and easy to spell. You’ll need this name in the future anyway, as people will type in it into browsers. This is one of the reasons I chose ” “.

Step Four:

Create a Site Admin Account To share your content with the world, you’ll need an account on which is free to set up and use. You may be asked for a username, password, and email address. Enter whatever you’d like for these. Once you have an account, you can log in to your dashboard by hovering over your account name on the left-hand side of the screen. From here, select Add New in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step Five:

Create Your Website Oh, the fun part! Now it’s time to create the actual website. On the left-hand side of the screen, select New in the Posts section. You’ll see a form where you can enter all sorts of information about your new post. To get started, enter a title and click Publish when you’re ready. Yay! Your first post is done! Of course, this is just a template with not much content on it.

Let’s go back in and add some more content. You can add/edit your posts by hovering over the Posts button, then selecting the post you’d like to work with. You can then edit whatever information you’d like to enter. Your post content will display on the site when it’s done.

Step Six:

Personalize Your Website with Pictures and Links The next step is to add some pictures and links to other sites that you like or find useful. I love making websites, so I added a couple of images at the top. You can either add your own pictures to the site from your computer or you can use this preview feature to see what the site will look like with different images. The preview button is located at the bottom left of the screen. You’ll need a Google account (or an awesome user name and password!) in order to use this feature.

Step Seven:

Add Contact Information This website will be a little more personal than the others I’ve made, so I added a section near the bottom of the page for contacting me.

Step Eight:

Prepare Your Tags and Categories Next, you can add tags that your visitors can use to find your content. Tags are words or phrases that will help people find similar content on your website.

For example, in the image above, I used the tags “blogging”, “WordPress” and “website”. These will help people who are searching for information about blogging on WordPress. Once you’ve added your tags, move onto categories. Categories are basically a way of organizing your website’s content, much like the folders you’d create on your computer.

You can select multiple categories, but only one category per post. Personally, I don’t like putting all of my content into a single category and I usually have 10 or more content categories per post (completed posts that are).

Step Nine:

Add an About Section Now you can add an about section to your website. This will be a great place to put a photo of yourself and a little about your background and what you like.

Step Ten:

Add Your Social Media Links Lastly, you can add social media links that will allow people to follow your posts on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Linked In, and Pinterest. Personally, I don’t think you should overdo this and I haven’t added any of these myself yet.

Step Eleven:

Write Some More Content I thought I’d add a little more content after finishing with all the setup. I wrote a few paragraphs about what it’s like to write an awesome blog like this one (you’re reading it!). I also added an “Advertising” section, since money is the best motivator of them all! This is where I’ll put information about advertising on my site and any companies or services that are willing to partner with me.

That’s it! We’re now finished setting up WordPress for your blog. I hope this tutorial was helpful and that you’ll take the time to set up a website of your own! I’ve also created some video tutorials and downloadable manuals to help you along the way.

Please check them out on WordPress or at my YouTube channel, Creative-Designs-Reviews. Thanks so much for reading my tutorial! I hope that you found it helpful. If you did, please follow me on my blog and feel free to leave any questions or comments. Thanks again!
